METHOD OF
REPAIRING JOINT
1
Surface
defects shall be identified during visual weld examination. Location of repair
portion shall be marked and the weld defect shall be removed to sound metal.
Repair welds shall be made using the welding procedure of the original joint by
a qualified welder.

Defects
that are not depend to the surface shall be identified by RT, UT or MT will be
marked and grinding shall be carried out until the defects is detected and
excavated to ensure the removal of defects to the full extent, suitable NDT
method (PT) may be applied prior to start welding. Repair welds shall be made
using the welding procedure of the original joint by a qualified welder.

Preheating
and Heat treatment shall be as required for the original welding as per
approved WPS.

After
welding appropriate NDT shall be carried out to check the integrity of the repair weld

If the joint is partial repair the defected area
shall be marked for repair.

If
the joint is full repair, the joint will be cut-out and re fit-up shall be
checked by Welding inspector and released for welding.

Welding inspector approval is required to do the welding of cut-out joints.
8 Prior
to start the welding of cut-out joints Welding inspector will give enough
awareness for the particular welder not to repeat the repair.
9 After
the repairing of joints it shall be visually inspected by Welding inspector
for initial acceptance.
10 The
same shall be offered for radiography examination.
